Babushka Plate

This plate was born from memory.

It is inspired by my grandmother, by long summers spent in the countryside, and by mornings that felt endless as a child. I remember being sent out to pick fruits with her while all I wanted was to run away and play with the other children. Back then, those slow mornings felt like a chore. Today, they feel like some of the most precious memories I have.

Now, I would give anything to spend just one more summer day there.

At the centre of the plate stands a babushka figure holding the fruits she has gathered, surrounded by soft colours and hand-painted details that echo the quiet rhythm of rural life. It is a tribute to grandmothers, to family roots, and to the small moments we rarely appreciate until they become memories.

Like much of the Tanushka world, this piece sits between nostalgia and imagination, drawing from Romanian village life, folklore, and the beauty of everyday rituals. It carries the warmth of home, the scent of fruit trees in the summer sun, and the gentle wisdom passed down through generations.
